What it is
One issue, one person. A painter, a scientist, a filmmaker, a fighter, a mystic. The work they left behind is the evidence, not the subject. The subject is the angle it was made from.
Tarkovsky refused to let anyone read his images as symbols. Fuller saw whole shapes before he ever saw a face. Pollock denied the accident in what everyone else called chaos. Those are not style choices. They are positions on what the world is.
Why it exists
Imitation is available to anyone. You can add long takes, use a wider canvas, drop the music. That is wearing the coat and calling it the spine.
What travels is the angle. And the angle can be worked out, because these people left records. Books, diaries, interviews, work.
How it works
Built from what they wrote and said, not from what was written about them. Where the record runs out, the issue says so. Admiration does not get to skip the evidence. Where the record and the legend disagree, the record wins and the disagreement stays in the text.
